Foundations in New Orleans Voudou Master Class
Foundations in New Orleans Voodoo has been upgraded to a Master Class! This unique course teaches about New Orleans Voudou as it is practiced in New Orleans and along the bayous and swamps of Louisiana. Teachings focus on the traditional concept of Ancestor reverence and build upon these teachings in a fascinating exploration of one of the richest and most diverse magicospiritual landscapes in the United States.
Foundations in New Orleans Voudou is an introductory course that explores the basic concepts and practices of New Orleans Voudou through assigned readings and multimedia presentations. Topics include the history of Voudou in New Orleans, Ancestor reverence, and the Spirits of the New Orleans Voudou pantheon.
Students will have direct access to the course instructor, Denise Alvarado, for personal feedback and questions. Mama D, as she is called by her students, was born and raised in the Hoodoo rich culture of New Orleans Louisiana and was first taught by her aunt on the Mississippi bayous. She has over fifty years of experience in hoodoo, conjure, rootwork and New Orleans Voudou. She is also a cultural anthropologist and has a graduate degree in professional psychology. The course content reflects the breadth and depth of her background. A certificate of completion is awarded to those who successfully complete the course.
