She has been associated with childbirth, nurturing the young, gates and walls, doorways, magic, lunar lore, torches, and dogs. She rules the cemeteries, the Moon, justice, wisdom, and travel. Hecate was closely associated with plant lore and the concoction of medicines and poisons. In particular, she was thought to give instruction in these closely related arts.
