Rainbow Petrified Wood
Look at the colors in this piece of raw petrified wood! This colorful specimen dates from the Triassic period, making it around 220 million years old! It comes from an ancient and extinct conifer tree called an Araucarioxylon arizonicum. The name petrified wood comes from the Greek root petro, which means wood turned into stone.
